FAQs

How long have you been photographing weddings?

I started documenting weddings in 2010 which became my full time job in 2015. Since then, I have photographed hundreds of weddings. I only ever photograph one wedding per weekend to ensure I’m energized and present to every couple I work with. I accept roughly 20 weddings per year and typically book dates 6-18 months in advance. No matter where you are in your planning process, I’d love to hear from you!

What’s your style?

The best thing about the way I work is that my style depends on you! For example, during pre-wedding portraits, I will get to know your personality and then together, we will come up with a suitable concept for you. My goal is to create pictures that capture your love and tell your story. You might be casual and fun, or maybe you’d like it more romantic and dramatic. You will have endless possibilities and locations, and I’m always excited to explore new ideas with you.
On your wedding day, I capture your moments as they unfold. I promise to be unobtrusive and observant, telling your story from the moment you wake up until the celebration ends. Focusing on your heartfelt emotions, I’ll shoot endless expressions from the little baby giggling at your party to the happy tears of your grandparents.

Will film images look different to digital images?

Yes! Film images look different from digital images. Film photographs can retain more highlights, dynamic range, creamier image compression for backgrounds, a smoother blending of light and tone, more true-to-life color palette, a more appealing grain, and overall more aesthetically pleasing texture and controlled vibrancy. I usually photograph a combination of the two, and match the edits of the digital photos to the film photos as closely as possible.

How is the shooting film different to digital photography?

Instead of rapid, successive machine-gun shooting, a film shooter often shoots for quality and not quantity in a very intentional manner – choosing to fire at the precise right moment. This means less fired frames but still results in the same number of images as digital shooters provide. Clients often prefer this methodical approach and feel it gives them a chance to slow down and soak in the actual moments.

Do you use lighting equipment?

I love working with natural light and will predominantly shoot with available light during your day. At night, or when the available light is limited, I will use flash (on and off-camera) as needed.

How do you go about photographing our wedding as the photographer?

Your wedding day will be one of the most important cornerstones of your marriage!
It’s important for me to capture your day in a way that will last generations and remind you of those special moments. Therefore, it is vital that you feel comfortable with me as your photographer. I would suggest that you try and book an engagement session with me prior to the wedding so that we can establish a comfortable working style and discover what kind of direction works best for you. You’ll then be more relaxed around me and the camera and that in turn will create better opportunities for stunning, natural photographs!

Will you guide us with poses?

Don’t worry, this is where I shine! You will get lots of tips and direction to help you look and feel confident and amazing. Just relax and enjoy!

Do you take posed photos of our family and friends?

Absolutely. I strongly believe in those family images, as they’re records of your entire family at an important time in your history together. A few weeks before your wedding I’ll send you a questionnaire covering the details of the day and, among other questions, you can provide a list of family groupings.
For full day weddings, I would encourage you to have no more than around eight large formal group shots, which can take between 15-30 minutes. A helpful bridesmaid or usher can help during this time by rounding up the guests on your list while I focus on making sure everyone looks great in the photos. Of course, we can do more than 8 group shots, just be aware this takes more time, so you will need to plan that into your itinerary.

What if it rains?

If it does rain on your wedding day then not to worry. Be flexible and smile about it! For Melbourne weddings I have enough clear umbrellas for the whole bridal party. I can also help to find some gorgeous spots undercover. If it’s for a different kind of shoot, then I am flexible with rescheduling to a finer day.

What are your prices and packages?

I believe that everybody is different. I don't create generic packages thinking that everyone would want the same thing. Instead, I would like to invite you to come meet me for a one-on-one consultation. You'll get to see and touch fine art albums before deciding how you'd like your products done.
If you’d like a destination wedding, there will be additional travel costs.

What is the “online gallery” you mention in your collections?

The online gallery is a private gallery where all of your wedding photographs will be placed online for you and your family and friends to view. It is also a secure shopping cart, which allows you (and your family and friends) to order prints and cards and select album prints. All you have to do is provide the gallery link to anyone you’d like to share your images with. This is also the way you will view all your digital files from your wedding day. You’ll have a download option with a PIN and can begin downloading the moment you receive the gallery!

How does it work with albums?

Once your lovely photographs have been delivered through our online gallery system, you will be able to choose your favourite images. When you have finished selecting them you can notify me.
From there, I’ll begin the design process. You will be sent a proof of the final design. Once you are happy with the proof, this layout design is then sent to our album suppliers who hand make your beautiful album. It takes 4-6 weeks for them to handcraft your album.

When will we receive our photographs?

We will endeavour to have your photographs ready and delivered to you within 6-8 weeks. If you require them sooner, additional charges will apply.

Is there a booking fee?

The booking fee (deposit) is 50%. You can pay this deposit with a bank transfer.
This deposit secures the price, time and services for your wedding date. It is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
The balance is due 1 month before your wedding date via bank transfer. For clients outside Australia, there is the option of paying via Paypal with an additional 5% Paypal fee.

Can you hold dates for us?

To be fair to everyone, I’m unable to “hold” a date or pencil you in without a deposit and a signed contract. I accept bookings on a first come, first served basis.

Can we meet with you before we book?

Absolutely! I’d love to meet you before you book. If possible, we will set up an in-person meeting, or we can set up a Skype video chat at a time that is convenient for you.

Do you travel for wedding, pre-wedding, engagement or honeymoon session?

Yes! I am available to travel anywhere in the world. I’m always up for adventure!
